Keys on the seat, in the boot or in the ignition with the engine running. We open the car by working the lock rather than forcing it, usually inside forty minutes of your call, and it is left exactly as we found it.
Your registration tells us the job and the price before we set off.

Breaking a side window feels like the quick answer. It is usually the most expensive one, and it leaves the car open for days.
A side window typically costs more to replace than a lockout, takes days to get fitted, and means the car cannot be locked until it is. Deadlocked cars and laminated side glass make it harder still.
We open the door by working the lock itself, the same way the key does. On most cars that takes minutes, and there is nothing to repair afterwards.
The one exception is a child or an animal inside and in danger. Then ring 999 first, and breaking a window is the right call.
Everything below is in the figure you get on the phone.
The lock is worked, not forced. Nothing drilled, nothing marked.
A figure on the phone before we set off, including coming out.
Driver, passenger or boot, whichever gets to the keys quickest.
Double-locked and deadlocked cars opened without damage.
Evenings and weekends cost exactly what Tuesday lunchtime does.
Ownership confirmed before anything is opened.
What decides the price is how the car is locked, not the make.
Central locking, keys visible inside. Most lockouts.
Double-locked or deadlocked, so the handles do nothing from inside.
Boot shut with the keys inside, or a separate boot lock.
Keys lost rather than locked in? That is a replacement key, a different job — see the replacement keys page.
First
V5C and photo ID before anything is touched, every time.
The door
Opened through the lock with entry tools, not forced.
Inside
Keys out, alarm handled, car checked over with you.
After
You lock and unlock it yourself before we take payment.
If yours is not here, ring and ask. Two questions usually settles it.
Call 0115 960 4128No. We work the lock rather than force it, and the car is left as we found it. If a lock is so corroded it cannot be opened safely, we stop and tell you before doing anything.
It happens more than you would think. It is still a lockout, and we treat it as a priority because the fuel is burning.
We check photo ID against the V5C, or other evidence linking you to the car, before opening anything.
It is the same price at any hour we work, seven until nine, seven days.
If they are in any danger, ring 999 first. Then ring us, and you go straight to the top of the list.
The van covers everywhere below at the same price. Where you are decides how quickly we arrive, not what it costs.
